Documented: Galaxies Colliding all over the Cosmos!

Astronomy textbooks typically present galaxies as staid, solitary, and majestic island worlds of glittering stars. But galaxies have a wild side. They have flirtatious close encounters that sometimes end in grand mergers and overflowing “maternity wards” of new star birth as the colliding galaxies morph into wondrous new shapes.
This new Hubble atlas dramatically illustrates how galaxy collisions produce a remarkable variety of intricate structures in never-before-seen detail

Teaser: 'The Tell' a short story from the compilation "The Trinket and other Short Stories'

A teaser from the book 'The Trinket and other Short Stories'
It is from the short story 'The Tell' (my only Homicide Detective story) enjoy!

Monty took a deep breath then said, “Not good.” He put away his semi-automatic. The room looked as if a struggle had occurred. It was in disarray, the lamp and other stuff had been knocked off the bed stand, the dresser was over turned and the mirror was broken, cloths and what not was scattered everywhere. The bathroom door and the walk-in closet were open and so was the bedroom balcony doors, the full length curtains were moving lightly in the afternoon breeze.
The very young, very frail, and very dead Ms. Anderson lay bound and strangled on the bed. The body was nude and had been bound with heavy duty zip ties; police departments use them as riot cuffs. She had been strangled with a single zip tie around her throat; it had been pulled extremely tight, embedding deeply in the flesh. The end of the zip tie, like a dog's leash around her throat was securely attached to a cord about four feet long, the other end of the cord was looped over the bedpost .Her body was chalk white, her face was hideously distorted, her glazed, dead eyes bulged grossly. She must have struggled and thrashed in agony; the bed sheets were twisted and turned under her. What a terrible way to slowly choke to death.
"No, not good.” echoed T.W.,"not good at all."

NASA: Orion, America's newest spacecraft

With a smooth first flight last week, the Orion capsule is well on its way towards fulfilling its promise as the spacecraft that will carry humans on missions beyond Earth-orbit for the first time in half a century. During its first flight on December 5, Orion orbited 3,604 miles above Earth, 15 times higher than the International Space Station, the first time a craft designed for humans has left low-Earth orbit in 42 years.

NASCAR Chase Grid and How It Works

This is the NASCAR Chase Grid. I like it a lot. It reminds me of the other pro sports play-off layouts.

The idea is simple and much more interesting. CLICK ON THE IMAGE for the complete explanation as to how it works.

NASCAR: Tony Stewart Hits,Kills Driver on Track-Criminal Charges Not Ruled Out

The crash raised several questions: Will Ward's death cause drivers to think twice about on-track confrontations? Did Stewart try and send his own message by buzzing Ward, the young driver, only to have his risky move turn fatal? Or did Ward simply take his life into his own hands by stepping into traffic in a black fire suit on a dark track?
After Ward was killed, Stewart, considered one of the most proficient drivers in racing, dropped out of Sunday's NASCAR race at Watkins Glen, hours after Saturday's crash. And the sport was left reeling from a tragedy that could have ripple effects from the biggest stock car series down to weeknight dirt track racing.

Now You Can Panic:Federal Dept Increase Since Obama Took Office

The new debt increase from the Obama administration is more than all of the presidents from George Washington to Bill Clinton COMBINED.
Unbelievable!
All of this and not a damn thing better for it!
Remember when President Barack Obama boasted of lowering the debt by half? Or when, in 2008, Obama accused President George W. Bush of being “unpatriotic” for taking out a “credit card in the name of Bank of China.”
Well, it appears that Obama has reached his self-defined “unpatriotic” zone himself.

CLICK GRAPH FOR COMPLETE STORY

- The total federal debt of the U.S. government has now increased more than $7 trillion during Barack Obama’s tenure as president.
- When President Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, the total federal debt was $10,626,877,048,913.08. Now it has risen to $17,618,599,653,160.19 — up $6,991,722,604,247.11 from Obama’s first day on the job.
- The $7,060,259,674,497.51 in new debt alone from Obama’s presidency is $61,341.82 per household.

NASA: We Are Not Alone In Universe, Scientists Say

Scientists believe there are potentially many more Earth-like planets in the universe -- and some of them could be home to alien life.
"Astronomers think it is very likely that every single star in our Milky Way galaxy has at least one planet," Sara Seager, professor of planetary science and physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said during the talk. "Sometime in the near future, people will be able to point to a star and say, 'that star has a planet like Earth.'"
