NASCAR: Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick drives full time in NASCAR this year!
Danica Patrick is feeling a lot more comfortable in a stock car these days. But what can we expect as she embarks on her first full season in the NASCAR Nationwide Series?
click on Danica for statistics

Patrick held her own in qualifying.
She qualified 29th which was faster than two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip, 2004 Sprint Cup champion Kurt Busch and perennial Chase contender Denny Hamlin, to name a few.
Patrick drives the 'Go Daddy' car for Toney Stewart and Gene Haas.
"I hope [her appearance in NASCAR] is something like Tiger Woods [rookie year in the PGA], where we get more and more people to watch the sport," said  Haas, the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing, as he watched his new driver do laps at Daytona. OK, this wasn't Woods walking down the 18th fairway of Augusta National in 1997 en route to becoming the first black golfer to win the Masters.
"Obviously, Tiger was a man in a man's sport," Haas said. "She's a woman in a man's sport. If she can just hold her own, I'll be impressed."

You can say what you want about Tiger Woods,(or 3 time NASCAR champion Toney Stewart for that matter) but he never, ever looked this good!

One Step Forward, Slide Back Two

"If  it can go wrong, it will."- Murphy's Law
Have you ever gotten into that rut where no matter how much you do NOT want something to go wrong, it does?
No matter how important it is not to screw up, you do?
The last person you want to piss off , you can't help but raise his ire?
Need a change?
Don't wait for your luck to change; you'll need to buck up and and fly right on your own accord!
Why?
Scientifically speaking the universe does tend to go toward chaos.
But, in the everyday scheme of things...
This, my man, is what is referred to as 'Murphy's Law'
Here from the web pages of Murphy himself is a few of the most pessimistic quotes I've ever had the privilege to snicker about:

When it goes wrong it will be all your fault, and everyone will know it.

If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong first.

If anything just cannot go wrong, it will anyway.

Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse.

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious.

Nothing is as easy as it looks.

Whenever you set out to do something, something else must be done first.

You cannot successfully determine beforehand which side of the bread to butter.

After you bought a replacement for something you've lost and searched for everywhere, you'll find the original.

The hidden flaw never stays hidden for long.

Murphy's Laws of Selective Gravitation.

A falling object will always land where it can do the most damage.

A shatterproof object will always fall on the only surface hard enough to crack or break it.

A paint drip will always find the hole in the newspaper and land on the carpet underneath (and will not be discovered until it has dried).

A dropped power tool will always land on the concrete instead of the soft ground (if outdoors) or the carpet (if indoors) - unless it is running, in which case it will fall on something it can damage (like your foot).

If a dish is dropped while removing it from the cupboard, it will hit the sink, breaking the dish and chipping or denting the sink in the process.

A valuable dropped item will always fall into an inaccessible place (a diamond ring down the drain, for example) - or into the garbage disposal while it is running.

If you use a pole saw to saw a limb while standing on an aluminum ladder borrowed from your neighbor, the limb will fall in such a way as to bend the ladder before it knocks you to the ground.

If you pick up a chunk of broken concrete and try to pitch it into an adjacent lot, it will hit a tree limb and come down right on the driver's side of your car windshield.

Murphy's Law of Thermodynamics
Things get worse under pressure.

The Murphy Philosophy
Smile . . . tomorrow will be worse.

Quantization Revision of Murphy's Laws
Everything goes wrong all at once.

Murphy's Constant
Matter will be damaged in direct proportion to its value.

Murphy's Law of Research
Enough research will tend to support whatever theory.

More Murphy's Law

Anything you try to fix will take longer and cost you more than you thought.
If you fool around with a thing for very long you will screw it up.

If it jams - force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

When a broken appliance is demonstrated for the repairman, it will work perfectly.

Build a system that even a fool can use, and only a fool will use it.

Everyone has a scheme for getting rich that will not work.

In any hierarchy, each individual rises to his own level of incompetence, and then remains there.

There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to do it over.

When in doubt, mumble. When in trouble, delegate.

Anything good in life is either illegal, immoral or fattening.

Murphy's golden rule: whoever has the gold makes the rules.

A Smith & Wesson beats four aces.

In case of doubt, make it sound convincing.

Never argue with a fool, people might not know the difference.

Whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Anyway, a person could go on forever with the negativeness of Murphy's Laws, but remember that there is aways someone in the world that would give anything,ANYTHING they have to be in your shoes.

Speaking of shoes, my mother's answer to Murphy's Law went something like this:
"I was bitching because I had no shoes, until I met the guy that had no feet."

John Glenn Gets Set to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of His Historic Spaceflight

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — The name still resonates like few others in the world of spaceflight: John Glenn.
The first American to orbit the Earth, aboard Friendship 7 on Feb. 20, 1962. The oldest person to fly in space, at age 77 aboard shuttle Discovery in 1998. U.S., senator for four terms, and one-time presidential candidate. He is the namesake of a NASA center as well as a university's school of public affairs.
Glenn aboard Friendship7 in 1962
"It's amazing to me to look back 50 years and think that it's been 50 years," Glenn said, seated in his top-floor office.
Now 90 and living in Columbus Ohio, Glenn just recently gave up flying and sold his twin-engine Beechcraft Baron. It was tough hopping up on a wing to climb aboard the plane. Glenn and his wife, Annie, who turns 92 on Friday, both had knee replacements last year.
"We decided it was time to pack it in," Glenn said.
Besides, his goal was to fly the plane until 90, "and I did that."

Glenn has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross on six occasions, and holds the Air Medal with 18 Clusters for his service during World War II and Korea.

U.S. Sen. John H. Glenn Jr. (D.-Ohio), payload specialist for STS-95 Space Shuttle Discovery 1998.

Glenn is about to accomplish another first in Space flight by celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of his first space flight.
Glenn was honored as a national hero and was not allowed to again fly in space during the moon race. America and NASA considered him too much of a national treasure to risk him on another mission. Consequently, he only flew in space twice. The second time in space at 77 years old aboard Discovery was an honor for the senior astronaut. Still, it was no simple feat; he was required to pass the physical and the endurance training, he performed his duties in space admirably.

Internatational Opinion of Obama

My word! I must say that it never ceases to amaze me as to how the world community views the United States.
Nearly 30,000 people in 28 countries were asked to rate countries on their positive impact upon the world. This year 46% of the respondents rated the US's influence as positive - the first time since 2005 that the survey returned more positive votes than negative for America.

Why is that you may ask?

The world loves Obama.

Again,why?

It's called the 'Obama Effect' an intentional proactive policy by the Obama administration!
"After a year, it appears the 'Obama effect' is real" said Steven Kull director Program on International Policy Attitudes (Pipa) at the University of Maryland.
That's right, PIPA.
This is serious,it has been going on since Obama took office!

Here is the goal of the Obama Effect:
"Its influence on people's views worldwide is to soften the negative aspects of the United States' image, while positive aspects are not yet coming into strong focus."

Since Barack Obama entered office, the world's view of the United States has 'improved sharply,' according to a poll carried out by the BBC World Service.

Well, that explains all that bowing, ring finger kissing, and genuflecting Obama has been doing around all those Kings, Dictators, and Prime Ministers of the world.

Now, will someone explain to me where an opinion of us makes us freer, or stronger, and/or safe from the terrorist mentality we face in America today?
